About Miketsu

Miketsu is a practice workbook for the in-basket exercise, a format widely used in management assessments. The name comes from miketsu-bako, the Japanese word for the in-basket tray of unprocessed documents. It was built to make this exam format easy to experience in the browser.

Two modes

Simple mode is a clean web UI you can work through at your own pace. Pro mode reproduces a paper exam booklet — page turning, a bubble answer sheet, and a hard timer — to recreate the time pressure of the real thing.

The problems

Every problem, scenario, organization and person in the sets is original fiction written for this site, with no relation to real people or organizations. No problems from real assessment providers are reproduced. Scoring is a simplified model based on priority judgment and action choices, and does not guarantee anything about real exam results.

Tech stack

Bun / Hono (SSR) / Cloudflare Workers / Vite / React (islands) / Tailwind CSS v4 / Biome / Vitest

Pages are server-rendered on Cloudflare Workers, with only the exam screens running as React islands. There is no database — problem data is bundled into the build. Your answers are stored only in your browser's localStorage and never sent to a server.

Why this was built

Practice material for in-basket exercises mostly lives in books; there were few places to try one casually on the web, let alone with exam-like tension. This site is also an experiment in reproducing the UX of a paper exam in the browser.
